Default Most of the treatments for this--

--are, unfortunately, pallative rather than rehabilitative--they treat the symptoms and not cause. These include most of the anti-seizure medications in the gabapentin/pregabalin class as well as some of the anti-depressants.

What it sounds like you have is almost classic Central Pain/post-thalamic stroke syndrome. This occurs most often when the sensory relay systems along the thalamic nerve tracts are damaged, although it also occurs in Multiple Sclerosis and some cases of myelitis or even B-12 deficient subacute combined central nervous system degeneration.
