Is the carpal tunnel in both hands? It may not really be classic carpal tunnel but another expression of the neuropathy, and related to your leg issues. It is true that there are no medications for the numbness, but you will get used to that. Wearing braces at night should help. Did he suggest physical therapy? When my hands had reached an acute stage with severe weakness I was able to regain some strength with therapy. I cannot ever regain normal strength but I have found it helpful on several occasions when there has been a sudden drop off in strength, rather than the gradual progression I expect.
No reflexes in the legs can be a symptom of hereditary neuropathy (CMT). I have only had one doctor in my life get a reflex and I think he was exaggerating a little, as the referring neurologist had said there were no reflexes.
