it is interesting to listen to the electrical activity of your brain when they are searching for the "sweet spot" location for your leads. To compare it to the sound a Geiger counter makes, it goes from random clicking like background radiation to, when the STN is found, like measuring radiation from plutonium. The clicking does get rather intense.

The wonderful thing for me, was when they tested theh leads, when they got to #3 and volted it up, it felt like someone had taken a lead blanket off of me. It was the most sublime feeling I've ever experienced!!

the Micro Electrode Recording (MER) equipment used to be a rolliing rack full of equipment, now it is a laptop, and a briefcase sized apparatus.
