Of the population is allergic to the nickel which is used in amalgam fillings. I always ask for composite. Simply, because, I like the looks of it better. It doesn't matter which dentist you go to. It is always your choice on fillings. Even if it is a community based organization doing the fillings. I believe, they automatically choose amalgam, unless, you specify that you would like composite, for the reason that it is cheaper for them to use. You may be having an allergic reaction to the nickel. Are you allergic to any jewelry, or buttons on clothing, etc.? Ever get small, rashes in the areas of other metals touching your skin? Many, if not all metals, have a small amount of nickel in them. Hope I helped some.
