I've found dimming the screen and the types of glasses everyone is talking about has been helpful, but I still have to put time limits on screen time or I pay for it.
I got mine at a local pharmacy for $20. They were an as seen on TV item. I actually wear them during my graduate class to cut the fluorescent glare and the powerpoint screen.

It dims the computer and reduces blue light according, following the sun, or you can manually make it darker like night. Hitting Ctrl + Alt + Print Screen gives you high contrast options. If you use google chrome while using this, it can give you extensions( options) for high contrast and darker themes.
Hope this helps!
