Doesn't that really depend on the form/compound it's in? That sounds like saying chlorine is a deadly gas, and there's chlorine in table salt, so we shouldn't consume any table salt.

The manganese in the cited article is manganese ascorbate. The form in automobile exhaust is manganese oxide.
