Biofeedback, neurofeedback and neurotherapy have been discussed many times on NT. There are basically two types. Non-volitional and volitional. Volitional has a good track record. It involves the patient making active changes to though patterns to cause brain waves to change. Non-volitional neurotherapies impact various stimuli or electro or electromagnetic energy into the brain to try to change brain wave patterns. Some non-volitional therapies have a risk of seizure.
Most are only approved as relaxation therapies. Those that claim to treat brain injuries are making claims that are difficult to substantiate.
