Dear Andrea,

I presented with a butterfly rash on my face, joint pains, etc. and received a positive ANA. I was sent to a Rheumatologist for exam. The conclusion was a FALSE positive.

From my understanding, there are MANY false positives on the ANA. It is worth being checked out by a "Rhumie". It would probably be a one time only visit with him unless they discover that you DO have a rheumatology problem. You can still keep your regular doctor. Two heads are better than one in many cases.
