Hi Kevbo887,
This definitely sounds like you are having absence or complex partial sz. I have both of these types of sz. I have a feeling you are having the absence sz. where you zone out and from what you described at the wedding when people were flashing their cameras and clapping it sounds like you may be having what is called audio and photosensitive sz. meaning certain sounds (audio) and bright lights or flashing lights like stobe light (cameras flashing) may have triggered your sz. Also if you are having sz. before you go to bed at night this is known as a myoclonic sz. and the sz. only happens when a person goes to bed or when they get up in the morning.
My advice to you is to see an Epileptologist and get away from the neuro you are seeing, it sounds like this Dr. could care less what's going on. I have had e.e.g.s done many times and it didn't show anything and that's because the damage was to deep in my brain the mri did show some of the damage as long as they used the liquid dye when they did the testing on me. What you need to have done is a spect and pet scan along with a video e.e.g. where you are in the hospital for a few days and you are on camera around the clock while they do the e.e.g. and the Dr. can see the sz. along with the brain wave activity. This takes a couple of days but it often shows much more of what's going on with a person.
As I mentioned to you before you may want to have a sleep study done along with an e.e.g. at the same time because you may have a sleep disorder that's causing all the sz.
Everything that you mentioned sounds just like my absence sz. that I have had for 42 yrs. One minute I'm fine and talking with people or working then I just blank out for about 20-30 seconds and after the sz. is over I'm confused and I don't remember anything that happened during that time period. I used to feel tired and get a headache but since I had the surgery to reduce my sz. that has all stopped. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!
