One of the most common causes for red eyes is dryness. Some TBI patients do experience red, dry, gritty or burning eyes. The best guess is that this may result from a decrease in the blink rate, or poor closure of the lids. Some medications given to TBI patients, like anti-depressants, can exasperate the situation. Artificial tears or tear duct plugs will usually control the problem.

Remember to mention this at your neuro appointment. In fact, some people find it a good idea to write everything down in advance, so you don't forget what you want to say.
