I am more in the "compromised" camp when it comes to my progression- everything takes some amount of extra energy to do and some days require maximum rest, minimal functionality.
I have always been rather empathetic, though I'd be lying if I said I've never questioned someones need in the past, whether it be a cart situation or cutting in a line. Of course since my own problems have arisen I have looked at these situations much differently.
For my senior thesis I concentrated on the meta nature of a couple of plays with an emphasis of appearance vs reality. Oddly enough it is something I get to deal with lately.
With all my weight loss I get told how good I look, never mind that I usually feel like a welcome mat on a muddy day when this comes up. I've learned to be more gracious with these comments.
If I saw someone being hassled for using a cart with questions of their disability I might have spoken up for them in the past. Now? Sharpen that silver tongue, lashing commencing in aisle 5.
I may have leaped off topic.
Sorry about that.
