The site has no references but apparently they gave a group of rats pomegranate with the expectation that its antioxidant power would be neuroprotective when they were exposed to rotenone. Instead it increased the damage to the neural pathways.

Apparently, pomegranate is a potential pro-oxidant but that is true for many antioxidants given in isolation. Antioxidants work best as a network.
