Neurontin (gabapentin) works differently for different people. Some (like me) have great success with it. For others, it does not help or even causes other problems. It is best to ask your doctor if it is worth trying. For most, there is a very low risk of side effects. Since it is available in generic form, it is not outrageously expensive. Back when it was Brand name only, Neurontin cost over $10 or so per 600 mg pill. Now, as gabapentin, it is about $2 per pill or less.
Some sleep terrors can be due to sleep apnea. My dream stress level increases drastically when I am not breathing correctly.
I was off gabapentin for 6 months. I was taking 2.5 mgs of Zyprexa (olanzapine) instead. It also helped stabilize my dreams. Zyprexa can be expensive.
