Something you might want to explore when filling your prescription for bio-identical hormones. My insurance won't cover any bio-identical hormones. I can get the Vivelle dot at a regular pharmacy (full price) but any creams need to be prepared by a compounding pharmacy. You may want to shop around for a good price. I belong to Life Extension and they have compounded bio-identical hormones at a very reasonable price compared to the pharmacies in VA. Unfortunately, they are restricted by recent VA laws and are not allowed to supply compounded drugs to VA and a couple of other states.

Also ask your doc about the base creams they use. I think the one called "versa base" is the most natural base cream. You don't want to have a base cream with petro-chemicals. This is more expensive. There others too and the pharmacy can tell what they use. This also gives you options in case you cannot tolerate one or more ingredients in a base cream.
