Lightbulb serotonin...

Elevated serotonin can come from taking SSRI drugs (prozac), or from
sudden release from carcinoids (which are found in the GI tract), or from a
beginning tumor (hidden in the lung).

A 24 urine test can screen for this biogenic amine. You don't mention shortness of breath during the attack, which can be present too.
Ask your doctor for the test, and perhaps a lung x-ray, to rule this out.
