Default Orthostatic hypotention - midodrine - dizziness

For several months I have been getting dizzy when I stand up due to my orthootatic hypotention. After breakfast I nearly fainted after I stood up and walked a few steps and felt dizzy. My husband, a doctor, took my blood pressure a few minutes later and it was 90 over 60. My internist prescribed midodrine 2.5mg 2x a day. I think it definitely needs to be increased to work effectively.
Should I try 5m.g 2x a day or increase the 2.5mg to 4x daily? We are leaving soon for a month in Europe. Please advise as to increase in dosage and how much midodrine to take daily to bring it up to a better level.
What works for you whether midodrine or other drugs?
