I am in tears to find out the sad news about Rick. While I did not post a lot and did not really know Rick personally, I lurked a lot looking for something to help my mother who had PD. Like him I was always researching. His posts were always hopeful and optimistic, and through his posts we all got to know him as someone who was a wonderful human being. I lost my mother after helping her fight the battle against the ravages of PD for over 16 years. I have been grieving over her for over a year. It is never easy to lose a mother at any age. I miss her everyday. I know Rick's family must be just as devastated. I am so sorry for your loss. It is a terrible loss to the PD community. May he rest in peace, and is probably running, jumping, and dancing all over heaven just like my Mum.
I agree that the pace of research has been very slow for PD, nobody seems to take it seriously enough in my opinion.
