Oh wow! McGyver in a Sci Fi series... I never realized! I have got to see this!

I have gotten used to the dubbing by now... I do speak the language, it's just it took me some time to adapt and acquire terminology, but besides that, the made up terms don't always work too well in translation.

For instance, and this isn't so much technical either, when Picard says "Engage!" ... they can't translate that. It's translated to "Execute!" most of the time. The overall meaning is the same but it doesn't feel the same. Or when he says, "Make it so," ... they don't even bother try to keep the feel of that one. It turns into an "execute" or equivalent. So the dialog just loses a lot.

At first, when I was real frustrated and sometimes had trouble, I'd listen to the audio and try to lip read. Whenever I caught them out I'd holler at the television. I turned watching into a session of bashing their translations. If you can't beat 'em, beat 'em up!
