Default uncontrollable shivering and freezing?

Hi, please let me know if anyone has experienced this. I woke up last night literally freezing. I was shivering so hard it went all the way down my legs in waves. My teeth would not stop chattering. I finally had to grit my teeth and get out from under my cover and get a thick, long sleeve flannel night shirt. I nearly fell because I could barely support my own legs. I finally got back in bed and continued with the shivering. It woke my friend (heavy sleeper) who checked to see if I had a fever... nope, no fever. I was pretty much hyperventalating so I breathed into my cover. This also warmed my hands. All the shivering actually hurt my stomach muscles and started causing back spasms.
This isn't the first time it has happened. For the last 2 mornings I have gotten up and sat in my chair right next to the ac unit. I assumed I was just having one of those cold days ( with a temperature of 75 in my house). Usually I just threw a blanket over myself and warmed up in a matter of ten minutes. Last night lasted over 30 minutes. The shakes eventually started slacking off, and I was able to speak. This morning my back and stomach are both tight.
Is this just one of the things I need to write down to talk to the doc about? I will say once I got warm I finally fell back to sleep so when I woke up I was drenched in sweat from wearing winter apparel.
Sorry if I am bugging everyone, but I am beyond clueless about what is happening to my body.
By the way... another rarity, has anyone woke up with tiny red spots over hands? It looked like burst capularies .
Thanks again, Helen
