A few pointers for anyone coming to Colorado to try cannabis. First, you would need to locate a recreational dispensary. Some are designated as medical for which a state issued "Red Card" is required, others are designated as recreational and some are permitted to sell both. Each product for sale is pre-identified as either medical or recreational and there are strict guidelines the dispensaries must follow. Likewise, it is our responsibility as consumers to educate ourselves regarding the laws.

When Amendment 64 first passed, CBD strains here were reserved for children suffering from epilepsy and the supply did not meet the demand so NP and other pain sufferers could not obtain CBD products. That of course has changed and now there are a variety of CBD products available on both medical and recreational sides.

The two main components in cannabis are THC and CBD. THC gets you high and CBD helps NP and inflammation. Many chronic pain sufferers try marijuana and say "it didn't help me" without knowing what they had. If you want give it a fair chance, high CBD is essential.

Avoid edibles. Ingested cannabis is absorbed differently and takes longer for its effects to be realized. One might consume half of a cookie, feel normal 30 minutes later and decide to consume the other half only to experience the trip of a lifetime two hours later...not exactly what we are going for with PN.

Be realistic. There is no cure but there is potential for relief. Similar to relief gained from Lyrica or Gabapentin, cannabis also has the ability to help some with chronic pain.

Remember that cannabis is a potent substance and we are all different. If you decide to give it a try, be conservative and see how you respond to it.
