I have hereditary axonal sensory motor neuropathy- Charcot Marie type 2. If your sister has symptoms that may be what you are dealing with. It progresses slowly, although you may face a big setback sometimes. A lot of your symptoms sound familiar- the muscles in the feet and lower legs weaken first, then the thighs have to work harder so they ache too. It can become very painful.
I started with clumsiness and inability to run as a child to increasing numbness in my early 30's and tired legs/ leg pain. Now at 52 my legs are numb to above the knee, I have pain to hip level, and walk with one or two hiking poles. My hands cramp or claw up if I overuse them and are much weaker. I am on pain medication which enables me to still function at home and enjoy being out, but I am definitely limited and need to rest quite often.
Please tell us more about yourself and your symptoms. How old are you?
