What about the other activities ? It sounds like you may need to change your display setting to see if that helps. Have you tried using f-lux to change the screen brightness ?
I find that I do not tolerate High Definition TV screens for very long. I have no problem with standard definition TV. I also get fatigue when there are too many graphics on a news or sports program, especially when those graphic are moving or changing.
