There is wisdom in that. They are "spine fellowship-trained" in either neurosurgery or orthopedic surgery. I would opt for that over a general ortho or neuro surgeon, who happens to also do spine surgery. Depending on your presentation, either inter-laminar or trans-foraminal epidurals would be considered, if the likelihood was significant that there is nerve root irritation (for a variety of reasons).
