Luckily I was already an AARP member. You get invited to join AARP a few months prior to your 50th birthday. Once you are a member, you can get the AARP benefits/discounts w/United Health.
In N.J. on top of the AARP/UH bennies, the state (in partnership w/AARP) pays the ins premium and you pay between $2-$5 max for all prescriptions.
