Peripheral Neuropathy despite normal CT & MRI scans?
Hi all,
I hope you can help me.
I have been a social drinker for 25 years.
However, I developed depression and anxiety about a year ago. I began drinking heavily this September and especially in October when I regularly drank heavily.
In particular, on 2 separate occasions I drank a bottle of brandy, a bottle of gin and 2 bottles of red wine each time.
Since shortly after the second binge, I have been suffering from burning and numbness in all 4 limbs, strange sensations when walking, blurred vision, some difficulty articulating speech, and a deterioration in my handwriting.
I was hospitalised for 5 days last week, and all the reflex tests and both a CT scan and MRI scan were normal.
Could one month of very heavy drinking, in particular the 2 binges, have caused permanent nerve damage - in spite of all the tests being normal?
I look forward to hearing your views.
Thank you.
