Mugzilla,
I am not here to lecture anyone. I don't have the time, the desire or the tolerance for any of that. In spite of the fact that the information that I provide here is truthful, it goes against the tide of mainstream dentistry. It can be hard to read or believe sometimes, especially when someone has been misinformed or ill informed over and over again by their dentist. I have always been one to stuck my neck out there and always with good intentions.
We have gone into great detail many times about treatment options when a tooth has become infected or become abscessed. You can search on your own and/or read the information that I have provided you and see that you only have 3 options. I have no doubt that all of your dentists agree with me on that. Of course the mainstream dentists that you see will discourage extraction because they are only focused on retaining teeth with repetitive root canal therapy, over prescribing antibiotics, eventually removing them and if at that point it is still possible, replace them. We have talked about how conventional dentists do not take into consideration the correlation between oral and systemic health. This is not just my opinion, this is the way it works in mainstream dentistry and before people were able to seek information on their own via the internet, no one even knew to question it. However, if your overall health is not your main concern and you are seeking a band ade to the problems, and I don't mean that sarcastically as many people truly feel that way, then pick one of those dentists and do what he suggests.
I hope you find a comfortable solution and I wish you well.

I wasnt looking for a lecture. I have seen several (4) dentists now and all of them strongly discourage extraction. I understand that is not your position. Given the info you have provided and i have read I am trying not to consent to more root canals but apparently that means consenting to extractions which I cannot get my head around. I was hoping there would be something in between that we had not discussed at length as our prior conversations were about a previously treated tooth, unlike the situation I find myself in now prior to root canal work. But thank you.
