Try to focus on the big picture- I say that in hindsight of course- and not in the academic scenario- but ultimately if she ends up one year more mature (compared to her classmates) this whole experience could potentially benefit her in the long run. Best to take the time to heal instead of risking a lifetime of difficulty.

I know the athletic deprivation is a bummer, I keep telling my daughter (Sr. in HS & just had 2nd ACL surgery), that once she graduates all the HS drama will be history. Colleagues tell me the kids figure everything out at about 25 yo., so we still have a ways to go...
