It's Christmas Eve. What are your plans?
It's Christmas Eve.
Does anyone do special things on Christmas Eve?
A special hello to BrokenFriend. I've been wondering how you are. I am thinking of you this Christmas Eve.
=============
We do not "observe" Christmas in religious fashion, and we don't even decorate any more, but we still observe the holiday in a small, family way. We will exchange cards, but not gifts. Most of our rituals have to do with food, and these start on Christmas Eve.
This evening we are having a light pasta first course, followed by smoked salmon, a green salad, and brown bread with cream cheese. Dad and I will have a glass of rose with that. I will also make a small potato-fennel side salad too, I think.
=============
This morning, I must make an effort to get myself and my area more presentable, so that we can enjoy tomorrow in a comfortably clear living room. A ton to do both on the self and the area. Busy.
I might need to go out and get cards. A bit yikesy on fitting that in.
I spent the night finding, evaluating and bookmarking carols to listen to, as we don't have much on CD that we like. More busy. My mother tried buying some more this year, and they didn't work out well either. We like traditional English choral music, as well as some of the older American contemporary voices ... Bing Crosby, Ray Price, Nat King Cole. My dad especially likes Sinatra, but the CD we have finds me wanting to leap out of the window, for how depressingly drawn out it is. So I'm trying to find recordings where he hasn't reduced the tempo down to a complete crawl and all but eaten the rhythm.
Not really in a huge Christmas spirit, but my folks are in a low key place with it too. We are in sync, so it is feels comfortable.
