Many understand how you feel. The loss is a part of our selves, our identity and what we produced in life. I didn't get a severance package, my son didn't either, he loved the industry and was a young man.
I got back into legal work, not in law enforcement, but as a PI for insurance companies....No surveillance of workers comp, mostly slip and fall, car accident and accident reconstruction. All consulting work, no steady job.
I got to do what I have training in. My son recently got back into airline industry, but it's physically killing him after his cervical fusion and recent car accident.
Keep the brain busy with minimal physical torture is a key. Online is so vast now you over come the loss with new opportunities.
