The only thing I can add is that lack of flexibility that you mention is a red flag for hereditary neuropathy. It doesn't come on suddenly, but sometimes we can aggravate things to make symptoms much worse so that a gradual process jumps up a few notches and gets our attention. For me it was taking Tricor for high tryglycerides.
