Alan had Menieres syndrome a few years ago. The vertigo was really bad. Had to go to the emergency room. They said "you have vertigo". Like we didn't know what he had. They gave him Meclizine. It makes you drowsy.

He went to the ear nose and throat doctor who told him "you have menieres, stop eating salt. Alan stopped the salt and I think he has had one (maybe two, 3 second bouts of vertigo in as many years).

In his case, no salt equals no vertigo. So I make sure everything I give him is sodium free. I don't cook with salt or anything.

I could never eat a no salt diet. But since he puts honey and splenda on everything, well, he doesn't miss it.

I use light salt myself.
