My sister has one but she has a van that had a hydraulic lift that folds up in the trunk and then when you push the power button, the lift slides out and goes down to the ground, you drive it onto the platform and it just slides back into the van. Cost a pretty penny. Medicare took of the price of the lift device, not the van. I think the only thing that comes apart is that the battery pack comes off which makes it lighter. My Mo had one and nothing came off on that thing. When I rent one, it totally comes apart, Battery comes out, seat comes off the base and my husband would easily take in and out of our trunk.
