I can imagine. England has Merck's first statin, Lovastatin over the counter you know. They approved its sale several years ago without a doctor's order.

The FDA here has failed to approve still the same drug, at least 2 times now (maybe 3). I have lost count. I find that rather revealing that they "know" how toxic statins are, and are not putting them OTC.

Just recently Flonase (and last year Nasacort), both steroid nasal inhalers, have gone OTC in US. But not the statins!

And there are rumors that some Birth Control pills may become available here OTC as well soon. But not the statins!
