Interested to see the results, which I have no idea how long it will be.
I felt very let down ("devastated" was the word I used to my neuropsychologist at the time). I also couldn't do basic math, such as 7x4=? on a flashcard.

Healing often takes time. As a data point to foster hope and optimism, I had a follow up NPA 3 months later, the result of which stated:

“On examination, the patient demonstrated intact cognition in all domains assessed including learning and memory, attention, processing speed, language skills and executive functions. He has shown an excellent recovery from his severe injury only five months ago. From a cognitive standpoint there are no concerns with respect to the patient returning to work full time or returning to driving”

BTW on both my NPA's the neuropsychologist went over the summary results at the end of the session, and I had the full report a couple of days later.

Best to you as you continue to recover.

What Happened: On November 29, 2010, I was walking across the street and was hit by a light rail commuter train. Result was a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures (skull, pelvis, ribs). Total hospital stay was two months, one in ICU followed by an additional month in neuro-rehab. Upon hospital discharge, neurological testing revealed deficits in short term memory, executive functioning, and spatial recognition.

Today: Neuropsychological examination five months post-accident indicated a return to normal cognitive functioning, and I returned to work approximately 6 months after the accident. I am grateful to be alive and am looking forward to enjoying the rest of my life.
