If you bought regular niacin... that typically causes a flushing reaction. It can be hivey or itch/sting for quite a while.
It is called the niacin flush. Some people find that an aspirin 1 hr before blocks this response.

The other form of niacin called niacinamide does not flush.

I cannot say about the curcumin... that brand with the pepper in it might be tough for some people.

The new CurcuBrain by NOW has the LongVida licensed brand in it and is very nice (this is new and not as expensive as LongVida was). You can find it on Amazon. It has especially processed curcumin in it for high absorption. Curcumin without special enhancements stays in the GI tract and little gets out.
The LongVida type is the type used in the studies. It and CurcuGel (which is not quite a good as the LongVida nanoparticles) were used in the studies because they are absorbed better.
