If you have only taken one class so far, I wonder if you have yet mastered your 'new you' learning style. You may benefit from some educational assessment/counseling to help you understand how to learn. Cramming is not a good way for most people to learn. Finding the proper cadence for study could be a big help.

Do you have Vocational Rehabilitation Centers available to you. They could asses you skills and suggest a direction.
