I have regained strength and balance but in same breath realize that this may be as good as it gets so I am reaching. Amazed that CMT symptoms match w/PN as DX. Good Luck, Ken in Texas.
There are many, many types of AFO's. (Ankle Foot Orthosis). I went to a foot doctor who then prescribed them. I could have seen any doctor. Just needed the prescription even though we knew what I needed. Then on to the AFO guy. Even when I need new ones I have to do the same and I did. That is so they get paid for.

You will lose some strength after wearing AFO's at least those with CMT do. However, CMT progresses regardless so strength is lost that way as well. Our healthy muscles are trying to compensate for the atrophied/dead muscles. Of course, this goes just so far.

Hope this helps some.
