I'm wondering if this could be tied to damage in the inner ear? I suffered a MTBI last March (2014) and have other lingering symptoms such as Tinnitus and ocassional insomnia.
Thanks for help. I really need it to feel better in places that are not bright.

Hi Martin,
First, I can tell you that's exactly how I feel in normal settings, everyday life. Those are pretty much my symptoms.
Now let me get get on to your issue. light can bother us in different ways. I myself, had extremely bad sensitivity where if I went from a light room to a dark room Fast then I would see stars and get dizzy. This could be the same situation with you, however you get other symptoms.
Have you done this before? Being in a room with light then going to one that has none? Could be the reason why you are feeling this way.
Good luck,
Sam
