Just for your information, there are also hallucinations associated with a sleep.
You could check those out - hypnagogic hallucinations and hypnopompic hallucinations although they usually happen in the period of time when you're not quite asleep but not really awake. They're very common apparently but can be frightening if you don't know what they are.
