The two cited papers in the link are both in excellent journals.

There are a few others which suggest that inosine can help in animal models of repair of nerve injury - I can't find any about humans.

I don't know how common inosine deficiency is in humans - people who are deficient in it might benefit from taking it as a supplement but supplements would probably not help people with adequate inosine levels.
