Taurine's monograph on Wiki mentions improving retinal functions and stabilizing membranes (as in nerves) so it might be helpful for you. As long as you do not use lithium, taurine is a fairly benign thing to try, and inexpensive too.
I'd go for 1 or 2 grams a day in divided doses and see if you have any benefits within 2 or 3 months.
I get my Taurine on Puritan's Pride site. But it is available on most discount online places too. Amazon, iherb.com vitacost and swanson's.
