I don't know what type of antidepressant you've been prescribed but I do know that sometimes a tricyclic antidepressant (e.g. Amitriptyline) is prescribed for migraine prevention and it seems to be the one that's been studied the most.

You could check in PubMed if you want to find out more about the particular medication that has been prescribed for you. e.g. type in name of medication and migraine.

Migraines are very strange and varied. I get them myself but haven't ever had symptoms for as long as you describe. That would be very concerning. I found this site, that I'm posting below, recently when I was looking for something for myself. It has a lot of great information about different types of migraines and research articles. Really worth a look.
