CMT is of the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) which is outside of the brain and spinal cord (CNS) Central Nervous System. CMT is just one kind of neuropathy (also called peripheral neuropathy) meaning simply that the peripheral nerves are damaged. There are many other kinds of neuropathy.

CMT is the most common "inherited" peripheral neuropathy. There are over 70 types of it identified so far with no end in sight. CMT is complicated. Many do have numbness in their wrists, hands, arms, feet, legs, etc.

Again, I am in no way suggesting that Lukesmom has this in her family. Hopefully, she will find an answer.
