Aug 15 just begins the point when you are first eligible for benefits. It doesn't mean you'll be approved by then or receive actual payment.

The Alleged Onset Date is an important concept to understand. An ALJ can choose a later date if s/he wishes, and that's called the Established Onset Date. Why would a later date be chosen? Sometimes it's tied to specific medical documentation and sometimes to when an applicant turns age 50 or 55.
