My DH bought one for me a couple of years ago. It has a small battery and a hand control. The motor is turned on by me twisting the handle. I can pedal at will, but when I get tired, I turn that motor on and whee!! I leave him in the dust
It is wonderful--one problem is that my balance isn't great, and I get nervous when people come near me. Something to work on
