Marie,

I know you are trying to promote healing of the surgical wound, however, the least you do to the wound, the better. Please do not put any tooth paste (natural ingredients or other) in the wound. It's important to remember that you have an open surgical wound to the jaw bone and you had an infected tooth removed which was intricately connected to the blood vessels, fibrous tissue, ligament and bone. Your immune system can not do its job if you interfere with it. Meaning there is a natural layered process to healing a deep surgical wound involving the bone that should not be disturbed by any substance that is a potential irritant. Earthpaste is not a bad toothpaste when used to brush your teeth. But it does contain clay which is therapeutic in certain applications but it is a drying agent and that alone could contribute to delayed healing and/or incomplete healing of the wound. The mints, xylitol, spices and tea tree oil in the toothpaste are not therapeutic in an open extraction wound because they are irritating to the fragile tissue.

I have seen what can happen when people try to hurry the healing... of course it is done with good intentions but sometimes the less we do the better and just let our immune system do its job. It's important to keep your mouth very clean with basic ingredients like salt and water so as to not disturb the healing.

The hole that is visible in the mouth can close even if there is a problem going on in the bone. So the toothpaste may be healing the upper portion of the wound but it's not benefiting the bone level. I hope I have been able to explain that okay and you are not offended by it.
