Default Extreme Athleticism and Immune System Dysfunction?

A warm hello to all -

interesting article. Thanks for sharing.

Many of the extreme athletes I have known have passed on at early ages with various types of cancers. I have read much about too much exercise causing too many free radicals... and I wonder if there is a connection.

I will add: I was an extreme athlete when young. I had started sudden severe chronic illness over 30 years ago. I was in a research study group with researchers at Harvard. There were 5 subgroups of study participants. The group I was in was considered the most severely affected group. In this group, we were all extreme athletes and/or triathletes, marathoners.

I think it's possible the extreme athleticism had affected our immune systems and had left us more vulnerable to immune dysregulation/dysfunction.
