In my country (NZ) the topic of Depression (in very generalised terms) has made it onto prime time TV in the form of 30sec ads 'raising awareness' by local celebrities who suffer. (EnglishDave may recognize the name John Kirwan) However there's still much work to be done at the 'ordinary people' level - especially when we have a govt. that is consistently underfunding the public health service.

Thanks Eva for such a poetic description and especially for emphasizing that depression comes in many forms and disguises. I wish I had your lyrical way with words but my foggy brain often struggles to get the basics out.
