Hi Megan!!
I admit I am glad to see you on here, yet I am sad you have to be on here. I got RSD at 19 and I found it is so hard to even explain it to my peers, so them understanding is a whole different ball game. I was in college at the time my RSD began. I ended up stopping for a semester as I was working full time and had so many medical appiintments/pain etc. Along with a surgery I couldn't handle it all. I am just now going back this fall after my 1 aND a half year hiatus dealing with my medical issues.all I would say is I was so discouraged about having to drop out a semester and now being so far behind but you know what I cannot even compare myself because this disease has changed my life. Don't push yourself too mych. Take it easy your first semester. Ease into things, take enough classes but don't pack yours schedule. Talk to college disability services. I have a meeting Friday and I will let you know what sort of accommodations I get from my school. They will most certainly give you support. Don't pus h yourself to go and see and do too mych. Make sure you stay online to talk ic you are having bad days or just need to relate. I am here as a peer I would love to be in contact and see how you are making out. Remember people just don't get this so don't be discouraged . Try to find and make good friends who are the kind who will just sit in your doom and hang out on a Friday night and order pizza. Please if you are having a tough day talk on here it can be so frustrating so we are here for you when you need us. Honestly disability services is something I would make an appointment to meet with someone. Really just take enough classes to fill your schedule but please even if you think you can do more classes just let yourself adjust . You are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep looking up, I know you will find help along the way and I will pray for all that lies ahead of you.
All my best,
LeggiesMcB
