hi alaska.i have read that rsd can cause bone loss and since i've had rsd i've had severe bone loss in my hips (osteopenea.) from what i have learned and lived about rsd it can affect the bones, tissues, skin, organs and immune system. i also have low vitamin d levels since i've gotten rsd because i can't tolerate the sun that can also affect the bones so that doesn't help either. i am taking vitamin d daily to try to bring my level up to normal range. it is about a 19 right now and should be around 50. if i were you i would check with your rsd pm dr about this and maybe take vitamin d and get yearly bone density tests to keep tabs on the situation. also certain exercises and water exercise programs help too. maybe you can ask your dr about that too. hope you feel better soon. soft hugs.
